Credits

  1. I'm using Mixpanel, Google Analytics and Statcounter for event tracking and analytics. Mobile Analytics
  2. Portable PHP password hashing framework or phpass was used for hashing the passwords and I made extensive use of the functions listed on the OpenWall article about managing a PHP application's users and passwords.
  3. PHP Mailer was used to handle the task of sending emails to users that sign up for the Course Picker site. Eventually, I'd like this task to be outsourced to Mailchimp.
  4. reCAPTCHA is an "anti-bot service that helps digitize books". I used it in preventing automated submissions of the signup form.
  5. PHP Simple HTML DOM Parser is another awesome tool that I use a lot for scraping web pages to extract useful information. For parsing HTML with Java, I use JSoup and I highly recommend that as well.
  6. Twitter Bootstrap for providing a fun user experience straight out of the box and allowign me to focus on building the internals of the app.
